History

Bodega Tamarí was founded in 2002 to supply a demanding export market, increasingly oriented towards the fine wines of the New World. After its commercial success in the past years in over 60 cities across the world, in 2012 Tamarí wines were introduced in the domestic market, brought by CCU Argentina, the third beverages company in the country.

The origin of the name

“Tamarí” comes from the huarpe language, spoken by the ancient native people of Mendoza. It means “doing things with love, passion and sensitivity”. We chose this name for our wines since it reflects the caring work of the women harvesters that pick up our grapes and the experience of our dedicated local lady enologist. Together, they foster the exceptional qualities of a unique terroir, with a modern enological concept and a permanent commitment to quality. Our wines transmit the feeling that stems from the passion of making wines that express the flavors and aromas delivered by our vineyards.

UCO valley

Acknowledged worldwide, Uco Valley is the birthplace of the best Malbec wines from Argentina. On top of a dazzling nature at the foothills of the Andes range, the area offers culinary, sports, religious and historical circuits that captivate the visitors of this fertile and picturesque land.

The vineyards that give birth to Tamarí wines are located between 900 and 1100 meters above sea level, right at the foothills of the Andes range. There, 100 km south of the city of Mendoza, the climate is continental dry. This allows a wide temperature range with very hot days and very cold nights. Average annual temperature is 14°C, and yearly rainfall is about 300 mm.

The soil is alluvial, only a few centimeters deep, of sandy and fine rocky structure. Very poor in organic matter, with low capacity to retain humidity and poor natural fertility.

The terroir´s particular characteristics allow the production of high quality grapes with excellent health. To this we add the knowledge, the careful and delicate handcraft of the women harvesters and all the experience of Andrea Ferreyra, the winery’s enologist.

So the sun, the land and the water combine with a passionate spirit for self-improvement to create Tamarí, a wine with the flavor of the mountains and the sky.

Our wines

Bodega Tamari’s wines have a personal imprint; they are designed for passionate women and men, eager for new emotions and equally interested in the avant-garde and the quality. For this reason, apart from its iconic wines Tamarí Zhik and Tamarí AR —both 100% Malbec— the winery is launching in our country the Tamarí Reserva and Tamarí Varietales lines, in three varieties: Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
